time gone by....

Well, it has been a heck a long time since I have blogged.  Same ole excuse, been soooo busy, but it is true none the less.

I have been reflecting today on my life experiences, mostly the hard ones.  I was thinking about the really difficult times when, you know, it feels like the end of the world at the time.

I remember when my dad committed suicide.  It was out of nowhere.  He wasn't the kind to do something like that so it took us completely by suprise.  Thank God that I had an encounter with Him about 6 months before that and all my weight fell on Him.

Weight...an interesting word.  You might not think so unless you are thinking about your's, weight I mean.  Consider this:

Proverbs 3:5 - KJV

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Trust is a simple word that we often take for granted the meaning.  Dictionaries define trust as confidence in, dependance upon, faith in, or belief in.  Well that sounds simple enough but let me illustrate trust in a way that might help.  Perhaps you are sitting in a chair as you read this.  You are placing your "trust" in that chair.  You have placed your full weight in the chair and you are fully confident and believe it will support your weight.  That is trust.  More for some than others.

Now apply that concept to what the writer of Proverbs is saying. Trust - put all your weight - in the Lord and lean not - put no weight - in your own understanding.  When we trust God we are literally placing all of our weight in Him.  We are completely confident that He is able to hold us up.  We are completely dependant on Him.  We have faith in Him.  We believe Him!

That is what it means to Trust Him!

Just a simple thought but powerful and I hope it encourages someone.
