Here are my thoughts on salvation. Faith and
grace have to work together. Grace is God being on our side giving us His
ability, because He is with us ("Immanuel" Matthew 1:23). We are not saved by what we do but by what He
did. We cannot gain or lose it by what
we do or don’t do; only by changing the way we think. This is a soul (mind, will, and emotion)
condition. Jesus paid for it so God
could be on our side. The dividing wall
was destroyed so God could treat us the way He wanted to. Faith is the evidence of the grace upon us…or
technically, God within us. We are
completely new creatures; images of the invisible God.
Our spirits were once "dead", in
a sense. The spirit, itself, wasn't dead
or hell bound. It merely wanted to
return to God Who gave it (Ecc. 12:7), because it was unified with a soul in a
sinful state of existence, and the body without the spirit is dead. That was our old state of being. Interestingly enough, Jesus, while speaking
to Old Covenant Pharisees, said that the Kingdom of God is inside you. This is because they had the breath of life,
the very breath of God, inside them.
Now,
after having believed, or agreed, with what God says is the truth:
- We were born with the tendency to sin, and we would be condemned if we die in this state.
- Jesus came 100% God to die so He could break the Old Covenant and establish a New One
- Jesus came 100% man to show what it looks like for man to live in a proper relationship with God.
- He said "it is finished" and He now sits at the right hand of the Father.
We must repent, change the way we think,
and be reconciled or agree with God about all the above, and allow the renewing
of our minds to transform us. We must
accept the fact that we are now a totally forgiven of any and all sin (past,
present, and future), and a new creation that didn't exist before on the earth.
Then we simply BE who we are now…one with Him in spirit. Now, in this state, our spirits are content
because they have returned to Him, are in Him, and He is in them. Like a glass of water poured "back"
into the ocean. God doesn't destroy the
spirit in hell, only the soul and body.
Salvation is a soul condition. My
soul condition is based on what I think.
When we agree with God, all is good.
Disagree, and there are always problems.
Not because God punishes us, but because disagreement with Truth means
agreement with a lie. This is NEVER good.
